I took my own time finding rhythm and rhyme, to free the music in me
Right from the start I knew in my heart - this was the place to be
Following a trend sends me right round the bend, I just need that swing to motor
What first seemed a chore although never a bore, it’s now the thing that I go to
Don’t get me wrong jazz is just like a song, so what time does the tune start?
When patterns and scales just make me derail, I hear the music in my heart
Ain’t it a struggle when you’re hearing a muddle

Tune in my friend and listen to the music in me

I took tiny steps and listened to Wes, it’s more important to have feel
I must confess I’ve been drawn to the test, but I decided to get real
Play a hundred notes to impress a few folks, I wouldn’t shake a lick at
It’s no disgrace to play with some space, expression’s the thing I will stick at
As we come to an end I will thank all my friends, for the fun and the laughter
So cut out the stress, this music invests, go play a Grand Master at chess
Instead of than pondering those quantum mechanics
Just take a jazz breath and then baby don’t panic
